Our large blueberry varieties will vary, but now include Chandler, Duke, Legacy, Patriot, and Sweetheart
CHANDLER produces exceptionally large and sweet berries - named the “World’s Largest Blueberry.” It has an extended ripening season from July through August (4 to 6 weeks) and consistently high yields. Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Chandler’ USDA Zone 4 – 8 Hardy to -20˚F
DUKE An extra-large sweet blueberry, Duke has great flavor and keeps well. Light-blue berries usually ripen starting mid to late June through July. They are extremely cold-hardy, blooming late but ripening berries early, thus protecting buds from spring frosts. Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Duke’ USDA Zones 4 - 7 Hardy to -20˚F
LEGACY has aromatic fruit for an extended period, usually late July to August. It is especially known for the super-sweetness and unique taste of its large berries. People tell us they get so many berries that one Legacy is like having 1½ bushes! Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Legacy’ USDA Zones 5 - 9 Hardy to -10˚F
PATRIOT is the largest early season blueberry, with ripe fruit usually starting in June. It is juicy, sweet - freezing exceptionally well and outstanding for baking and preserving. (Delicious eaten fresh too!) Patriot’s hardy bushes fit well into small backyard landscapes. They are also excellent for planting in containers. Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Patriot’ USDA Zones 3 – 7 Hardy to -30˚F.
SWEETHEART is the only re-fruiting blueberry. It gives two crops each year - early summer and again in fall. The deep blue juicy berries are known for being aromatic, with firm texture and a sweet flavor. The bush is easy to grow, maturing at about 4 to 6 feet tall. Sweetheart Blueberry is native to North America. Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Sweetheart’ USDA Zones 4 – 8 Hardy to -20˚F
