½ PRICE (Reg. $25 - $75) KIMMEI is erect with slender canes and mid-green leaves. In spring it shoots beautiful burgundy canes that gradually turn golden with a green stripe. In mild climates such as Portland it is a clump-forming, very slow runner (although classified as a spreading bamboo in hot climates). Kimmei grows well in sun or in the shade, thriving in a wide variety of conditions. This makes it one of the most versatile and rewarding privacy bamboos. $50 CLOSEOUT - WET/WATER BAMBOO grows in wet soil or swampy areas where other bamboo types will not survive. It grows straight and tall, about 18-25 feet (8-10 ft. in containers). ½ PRICE (Reg. $25 - $75) JAPONICA’S leaves begin as low as ground level, providing a thick, lush green privacy screen. It grows densely to about 12-17 feet tall, 6-10 ft. in a container. Arrow is extremely shade tolerant, but it also grows well in full sun. Some have variegated leaves for extra foliage interest. Japonica is hardy and withstands wind and salt, so it is a good choice for coastal areas. It also may be grown indoors. Now 2–6½ ft. Pseudosasa Japonica

This creates an attractive contrast of colorations as the bamboo matures. Narrow, long dark green leaves add to its elegance. Hale is good for harsh climates and excellent planted in containers where it matures about 12 feet tall. Some people grow Hale Black Bamboo indoors as a decorative plant. Cascades of dark green leaves are on golden canes, some with architectural zig-zags at the base, adding interest.
